If you choose to do your gutter cleaning yourself, safety should always be your top priority. Many accidents occur from gutter cleaning in British Columbia every year because of slippery weather conditions combined with ladder work. Ladders should always be properly set up and spotters should always be present to hold the ladder, provide first iad, or call for help. Harnesses should always be used for second storey gutters and when appropriate.

To clean it by hand, you’ll want to slowly use the trowel to slowly scoop out the debris and dump it into your bucket. While these methods are quicker and more effective than hand cleaning, these methods are also far more dangerous. Always use harnesses when working at heights.
