Jim's Mowing is our go to landscaping company. We are able to do basic yard maintenance but whenever we've had a challenging task to do, such as hedge trimming, I'm grateful for the great work and results we get from Jim's Mowing.

Rio with Jim's Mowing does wonders on our property. It was covered with sod that died after we bought the property and he's since revitalized the lawn. Great communication and customer service. Would recommend working with him.

We have had Chris Thomsen from Abbotsford do our landscaping and trim our VERY large cedar hedges (at least 20 feet tall) on both sides of our property for the last 2 years. Also power raked and top soiled and seeded our grass. He has done a great job everytime! Trims our cedar hedges to perfection and does a meticulous job of clean up after the job is done. We have had other guys prior to Chris and they don’t come close to the excellent job Chris has done. We won’t go with any body else. Great guy, reliable and super skilled. Highly recommended!!!

Highly recommend Chris from Abby.

Fall Cleanup!

As the temperatures drop and Autumn’s colors take over in British Columbia, many homeowners find themselves dealing with a yard full of fallen leaves, overgrown plants, and seasonal debris. A thorough fall cleanup isn’t just about keeping things tidy but is essential for maintaining a healthy lawn, protecting garden beds, and preventing issues like mold, disease, and dead patches before Winter sets in. By the end of Summer, branches weaken, shrubs become unruly, and trees shed a heavy layer of leaves that if left unattended, can smother your lawn and block vital sunlight. Decaying leaves trap moisture, leading to fungal growth, while overgrown plants can choke out smaller ones, affecting next season’s growth. Clearing out debris, trimming back overgrowth, and preparing your landscape for the colder months ensures a lush, thriving yard come Spring, something that although you can always freely do on your own, sometimes can be best handled by professionals like BC Mowing & More who understand exactly what your lawn and garden need to stay in top shape.

Fall Cleanup and Leaf Cleanup Services

A thorough fall cleanup in British Columbia is more than just raking leaves—it’s about preparing your entire landscape for the Winter ahead and ensuring a strong, vibrant return in the Spring. A key part of this process is strategic pruning, where dead, diseased, or weak branches are carefully removed to prevent decay and disease from spreading through your trees and shrubs. This approach promotes healthier growth and prevents damage caused by heavy snow or harsh winds.

At BC Mowing & More, we practice specialized techniques to enhance the structure and vitality of your plants beyond just standard pruning. Overgrown shrubs or trees blocking pathways or encroaching on garden beds are trimmed back using the reduction method, ensuring clear and safe walkways. We also understand that thinning out dense foliage allows better air circulation and sunlight penetration, strengthening plant cores and encouraging healthier regrowth. Meanwhile, raising lifts low-hanging stems and branches to create a cleaner, more open yard, reducing clutter and enhancing curb appeal. When you trust our fall and leaf cleanup professionals with excellent skills and expertise, we do not work just to simply tidy up your yard. We set your landscape for long-term health and beauty.

Fall Cleanup: The Pros For your Garden

Applying a fresh layer of bark mulch during a fall cleanup is a smart way to protect and enhance your garden before winter arrives. While many associate mulch installation with Spring, Fall is an ideal time to lay it down. A well-spread layer of mulch acts as insulation, shielding plant roots from harsh frosts and sudden temperature drops that can cause serious damage. It also helps retain moisture, preventing the soil from drying out during colder months, which is especially important in regions that experience deep Winter chills. Beyond the practical benefits, fresh mulch instantly refreshes the look of your garden, giving it a polished, well-maintained appearance even as the weather cools. With the right application, your garden stays protected, vibrant, and ready to thrive once spring returns.

Your Lawn: Why Fertilizer and Lime in the Fall?

As Fall settles in across British Columbia, your lawn naturally starts to slow its growth, making it harder for the grass to absorb essential nutrients. The region’s high concentration of evergreens tends to make the soil more acidic, creating an environment that can be tough on lawns. That being said, Fall is the perfect time to give your lawn a little extra care, ensuring it stays strong through Winter and comes back lush in the Spring.

BC Mowing & More‘s lime and fertilizer treatment is one of the best ways to restore balance to your soil. Lime helps neutralize acidity, creating the right conditions for grass to absorb nutrients, while fertilizer provides the nourishment needed for healthy growth. For even better results, aeration in the Fall can open up the soil, improving airflow and water absorption. With our professionals’ skills, proper insurance, and proper equipment, your lawn can definitely get the best possible start before Winter sets in, so when Spring arrives, it’s greener, healthier, and ready to thrive.

Leaf Cleanups: the most tedious of Fall Cleanups?

While some people don’t mind raking leaves, for many, it’s one of the more time-consuming and tiring parts of Fall yard work. But whether it’s a task you enjoy or one you’d rather avoid, leaf cleanup is essential especially in British Columbia, where trees are everywhere. Piling leaves can quickly block pathways, make driveways slippery, and even clog street gutters, creating unnecessary hazards. Regular maintenance not only keeps your yard looking neat but also helps prevent bigger problems down the road.

For lighter leaf coverage, mulching can be a great option, breaking down leaves to return valuable nutrients to your lawn. But when the leaves start piling up, hauling them away is often the best solution to keep your yard clear and manageable. A thorough fall cleanup means less stress and a healthier lawn heading into winter.

Wind/Storm Damage

British Columbia’s Fall storms can be unpredictable, bringing strong winds that knock down branches and scatter debris across your yard. When heavy limbs or cluttered leaves make a mess of your lawn and garden, getting things cleaned up quickly is key, but always remember that you do not have to tackle it alone. BC Mowing & More‘s professional cleanup ensures your property stays safe and tidy without the hassle of hauling everything away yourself.

Yard work in colder weather isn’t exactly a fun way to spend your time. As the temperatures drop, the last thing you want is to be out in the damp, dealing with a storm’s aftermath. Instead, let our experts handle the heavy lifting. A proper fall cleanup not only keeps your yard looking great but also helps prevent bigger issues when winter hits.
